Most communities fail.
Why?
Everyone’s in 5 Slacks, 10 Facebook groups, and 20 Discords. Community noise is at an all-time high. It’s easier than ever to start a community but harder than ever to get anyone to care.
When the rubber hits the road, teams quickly find themselves spinning their wheels. The community vibes are far from immaculate, they’re struggling to grow engagement, and everyone starts asking the same question: “Is this really worth our time and money?”
You spend every day in your community. It’s tough to see the forest when you’re navigating the trees. That’s where having an outside perspective, a community coach, comes in. Throughout my career I’ve always had coaches because they can see what I can’t.
But I never had a community coach. It didn’t exist. Now it does.
The businesses I work with are generally looking for help with any of the following:
1. Launching a new community program or business
2. Growing or revitalizing an existing community
3. Hiring a community lead
4. Building community products and software
5. Managing a community team
Beyond community, I’ve also launched and scaled conferences to thousands of attendees, grew audiences of tens of thousands on social media and newsletters, bootstrapped businesses to acquisition, and worked with a wide range of businesses in and around tech.
I can’t promise you a thriving community. Communities are of the zeitgeist and connecting the right people, with the right message, in the right place, at the right time requires intuition, persistence, and luck.
I don’t know your members as well as you do, I can’t make you care enough to persist, and I can’t make you lucky. What I can do is give you a plan and put you in the position to get lucky.
I offer the benefit of my 13 years building communities and community-led businesses. Using many of the frameworks from my book, The Business of Belonging, I’ll show you how to design a community that achieves your business goals. I’ll help you develop member personas and design engagement experiments. You’ll have clarity on metrics and system for tracking success.
You’ll get to tap into my complete library of templates, worksheets, and processes, as well as my vast network of community experts.
When you’re ready to hire, you’ll get free access to my talent collective where 160+ of the top community professionals in the game are looking for their next gig.
I’ve worked with companies of all sizes, from pre-product startups to large enterprises, including Google, Meta, Yelp, Prenda, Waze, Sphero, and Shopify.
I work with 3-5 clients at a time and I only take on clients that genuinely excite me.
